There’s a reason our two most nutty northern holidays (Halloween and April Fool’s Day) occur when the days are so rapidly changing from long to short, and short to long. We try to live stable lives, and the sudden sunshine of the spring and deepening darkness of the autumn destabilizes us. Change is trauma, and the staid are disturbed like hens with ruffled feathers. But poets? I think they sort of like it.
I love this simple but very visual prose. Your picture and your words carry me to a beautiful cemetery in Savanna with hundred year old oaks covered in fallen leaves. Love ❤️ Joni

It keeps the poets writing, that’s for sure.

Enjoyable and captures the poignancy of autumn. Not so much a warm caress in Northern Scotland though – wind blasting from the North Pole today.

It’s actually freezing cold and windy here in Texas as well. Somewhere there must be a picturesque Fall day.
